Your skin – the largest organ in the body – says a lot about your health and greatly affects your appearance. You should take good care of your skin by protecting it from the sun, cleansing and moisturizing properly. Still, as time passes you may notice increasing lines, roughened ares and less of the glow you once enjoyed. That’s when you should considered cosmetic services (beginning with a free skin consultation) such as those offered by Dr. Charles Dietzek of the Vein and Vascular Institute of New Jersey.
What’s Available?
Most cosmetic procedures are minimally invasive – meaning they can be performed in a doctor’s office. Recovery time is also quite short and in some cases can be measured in hours. Effects can be immediate or more gradual and last for varying periods of time. We offer the following cosmetic services:
Botox, a specialized highly purified protein derived from the clostridium bacteria, Botox temporarily paralyzes the muscles that cause wrinkles. Injected directly into the muscle with a very fine needle, Botox smooths the skin. Repeat treatments are necessary to maintain the look.
Juvederm and its derivatives are dermal fillers in gel form that are injected under the skin to erase lines and plump up the tissues. It is mixed with a local anesthetic called lidocaine, so is essentially painless. Effects can last up to a year.
Micro-needling is the use of very tiny needles to stimulate the skin. These needles create tiny channels to help with the absorption of other skin care products and stimulate production of natural healing properties in the skin.
Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution is a prescription medication that can stimulate the growth of eyelashes. Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution makes your eyelashes thicker, fuller and longer when used consistently.
Radiesse is another injectable filler to help reduce moderate to severe wrinkles. The water-based gel contains tiny spheres made of calcium hydroxylapatite, which stimulates collagen production. Radiesse doesn’t cause allergic reactions and is naturally absorbed by the body over time.
Belotero is one of the most versatile of dermal fillers. Composed of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in the body – Belotero can improve a wide variety of skin problems, such as frown lines, smile lines and wrinkles around the eyes and between the eyebrows. It can also be used to round cheekbones, plump the lips, and smooth and soften the hands and décolletage.
Facial peels are one of the cosmetic services that do have a slightly longer recovery time. The substances used help remove excess skin cells, but the skin must slough off to leave fresh new skin underneath. Facial peels can have significant effects on the appearance of damaged skin.
Dermaplaning is a technique that physically removes skin cells without chemicals. A very fine blade literally shaves away old skin.
