Belotero® : Different Formulations for Different Needs

One of the best things in life is having options. And when it comes to fighting the signs of aging in our skin, we have plenty of options from which to choose. Plenty of injectables and cosmetic fillers are available to fill in wrinkles and creases and help skin look plumper, firmer and smoother. And one of the most versatile is Belotero.

What Is Belotero?

Belotero is a cosmetic filler that uses a substance called hyaluronic acid to help skin look and feel firmer and smoother. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in skin, and it plays an important role in helping skin retain moisture so it looks resilient and bounces back when touched. As we get older, our skin produces less hyaluronic acid, so it’s less able to hold in moisture that keeps skin looking firm and youthful. As a result, skin is more susceptible to lines, wrinkles and creases, and it also loses its “plumped-up” appearance.

Belotero works by supplementing the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid, helping skin retain moisture and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and creases while maintaining natural plumpness and volume in the cheeks, lips and other areas. Plus, the Belotero formulation helps skin build a stronger supportive matrix, improving the structure of skin for long-lasting, natural-looking results.

Where Can Belotero Be Used?

Belotero offers a range of formulations from soft to firm, so it can be used to treat multiple areas of the face without looking stiff or unnatural. Depending on the formulation, Belotero can be used to treat nasolabial folds and marionette lines around the mouth, nose, chin and jowls, “smoker’s lines” around the lips, and other areas where volume loss is contributing to wrinkles and sagging skin. Plus, it can be used to plump up lips and augment hollowed-out areas in the cheeks and elsewhere. Multiple formulations mean Belotero can be injected more superficially than many other fillers, making it a great “finishing filler” for very light wrinkling and areas with fine lines. And, Belotero can also be combined with other injectables like BOTOX® to provide the effects of a “mini-facelift” – but without the cost, pain or recovery time.

What Is Treatment Like?

Belotero treatment is performed right in the office, typically in less than a half hour. Most patients report very little discomfort during their treatment – no more than a pinch and a little pressure. For patients who just don’t like needles, Belotero also offers formulations with lidocaine to gently numb the area and reduce discomfort.
