What Areas Does Juvederm® Treat?

As you age, unfortunately your skin begins to lose some of its hyaluronic acid. This process will be sped up if you’ve not been kind to your skin, such as spending a lot of time in the sun without wearing sunscreen. Fortunately, there’s Juvederm®, which is a collection of FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers that is used to improve the volume of various areas of your face.

What Does Juvederm® Treat

Each Juvederm® product offers a different formulation for different advantages for the patient. The three main areas that this cosmetic filler treats is the cheeks, lips, and lines and wrinkles. Let’s take a look at each individually.

Cheeks

If the volume of the sides of your face have flattened or your cheeks appear hollow or sunken, you can use this hualuronic acid filler to give your checks a more youthful look. It adds volume beneath the surface of the cheek to provide more fullness and contour. Results on the cheeks can last up to two years.

Lips

Not everyone has full, plump lips, and as we age, they tend to not only lose some of their fullness, but also develop tiny vertical lines that become more prominent when wearing lipstick. Depending on the version of Juvederm, you can add subtle volume or more robust volume to your lips, with results lasting up to one year.

Lines and Wrinkles

The manufacturer notes that parenthesis have a place — and it’s not on your face. If you have moderate to even severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth (those dreaded parenthesis lines), then this cosmetic procedure can help to smooth those lines. It is helpful to lessen the appearance of smile lines, or nasolabial folds that run from the corners of the mouth to the corners of the nose.

How Long Does the Procedure Take

Your injections take only about 15 minutes, and you’ll notice immediate results. The injection is targeted directly on the treatment area. Because the Ultra XC injectable contains a local anesthetic, called lidocaine, you’ll experience only mild discomfort, if any, during the injection. Follow-up re-injections can help extend the look of the product. This hyaluronic acid facial filler product is eventually absorbed into your body.
